FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you a boarding kennel? No. We are a private residence. We offer cage-free, in-home overnight doggie stays (boarding). Our goal is to provide as much of a stress-free environment for your dog while you're away.
Are you a doggie daycare? We are not a typical doggie daycare but we do occasionally accept dogs for daytime play. Since our priority is our overnight guests, we prefer to book daycare only a few days out.
How many dogs do you accept at your residence? We prefer to accept only 3-4 dogs at a time (in addition to our own) to keep stress at a minimum and people-to-pet attention at a maximum. Exceptions include holidays and when there is overlap between the time one doggie guest arrives and another goes home.
How often will someone be with my dog? Our residence is occupied by two adults (no kids). I work from home and therefore someone will be with your dog during the majority of their stay, throughout the day and evening. We do go to the gym, grocery store and engage in other everyday life activities – and thus your dog may be left in the residence unsupervised for up to three hours. New guests are supervised continuously for at least the first 48 hours.
What is your background with dogs? I have worked for the Federal Government since 1996 and in that capacity, have worked with professional working dog teams (primarily search and rescue & detection dogs) on countless occasions. I have been a military K9 team certifier, have worked with K9 teams in deployed environments (including over two years in Iraq) and have worked with (and learned from) dozens of handlers and trainers. Since training is not my full-time profession, I do not claim to be a trainer, behavioralist, doggie psychic or otherwise. We just love our dog and want him to have an extraordinary life.
Do you offer a Meet & Greet? Yes, we offer one complimentary 20 minute Meet & Greet for you and your dog to visit the house and ensure this is a place you are comfortable with. There is no pressure to finalize your plans during this time.
How do you deal with Fleas, Ticks and Foxtails? We are greatly concerned with keeping these critters off your dog and ours. We use all natural flea preventives in our home and yard including Diatomaceous Earth and Ashley's Pet Pride No Flea. Unfortunately, prevention cannot guarantee avoidance of these issues - and we always recommend checking your pet thoroughly when they return home.
Why do you have a faster response time through email or text? I work from home on a consultant basis which means I'm often on the phone. It's much more efficient to contact us via email or through our online forms, which I am able to respond to in a more timely fashion.
And finally.....WHAT is a Grey Ghost? A Weimaraner is affectionately known as a Grey Ghost due to their silver/grey coloring. The breed is a cross between a Bloodhound and Pointer and are therefore excellent tracking and sport dogs. Yet because they love their humans and are never more than a foot away, they are also excellent lap dogs!
